OUR FIRST ANNUAL CONFERENCE!

What a wonderful blog to write! We are going to hold our very first Annual Conference this October. BUILDING BRIDGES TO OUR FUTURE is the theme and the Bridges we refer to are our own professional development, technology and information. While this will not be a full national conference agenda it will be a great training opportunity and a chance to Celebrate AVRM! The dates will be October 3rd through the 5th and we will be in Dallas, Texas.

Our Planning Team is just coming together and getting started. When I asked for those who would like to help plan I was overwhelmed with how quickly people stepped up and their enthusiasm is contagious.

There will soon be a special page on our website that is devoted to just the Conference. As we plan and know more details we will be posting them to the Conference page.

In the meantime, if you have questions, comments or would like to join the Planning Team; please don't hesitate to contact me.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE MONTH TO BE CHOSEN

Just a reminder to vote your preference in the Conference Poll. Your input is very important. The result of this poll will be to designate the month in which the annual conference will be held. Currently October leads with 21%, May follows with 14% and September is third with 12%.

This is also a great time for local VRM groups to discuss if you would like to host a conference in your city. There will be an RFP process with the Taskforce Leadership Team making the final decisions on the first three conferences. There after the Board of Directors will take this responsibility.

We are working on three conferences at once in order to set the appropriate time line in place. The city hosting the third annual conference will have the full amount of time that will be our practice in the future. The city hosting the second annual conference will have shorter, but adequate, amount of time to plan. The city hosting the first conference will be on a quick turn around and may, or may not, have the conference in the chosen month depending on the availability of conference sites.

Conference Team Begins Transition

The Conference Team has a number of questions included in the new survey you will see posted shortly. Please be sure to respond as your thoughts and expectations are very important. These will be the last questions we are asking of those in our field.

To date we can report to your that the information we have collected along with the responses in the original survey have affirmed just what we had expected to see. It is encouraging to know we are on the right track.

If you have any last ideas or thoughts regarding conferences and your expectations; please forward your comments directly to me or post them as responses to our blog.

We want you to know that we are listening! The message we are currently receiving from our peers is to hold a conference soon. In response we are beginning the process of the transition from an information gathering team to an actual Conference Committee.

The concerns that have been expressed are that while it may be several months down the road before the organization structure is completed, however, because it takes at least 12 months to plan a conference we should begin now putting the basics together. We will post and invitation to be involved in this process on the various list serve. Each position posted will have a specific focus regarding the conference.
